Cotton – Diseases Supressed, Growth Enhanced, Yield Increased
Information
This replicated cotton trial was conducted in Whitton, NSW, in a field with a history of black root rot and alternaria. Switch Ag’s Promote & Plant Guard were applied to the treated replications at planting. These products effectively reduced the severity of the crop diseases, enabling the cotton plants to grow through the disease period, significantly increasing their leaf area. This resulted in an increased yield across all replications.

Cotton Trial With Promote & Plant Guard
A replicated cotton trial was conducted by NSW DPI in Whitton, NSW, to assess the effectiveness of Switch Ag’s Promote & Plant Guard in a field with a history of black root rot and alternaria. The trial included four replications using the Sicot 746B3F variety, with planting dates between October 10–12, 2021. The treatments, Plant Guard (1 L/ha) and Promote (10 L/ha), were applied at planting at a dilution of 50 L/ha in water.
The results demonstrated a notable reduction in disease severity, allowing the cotton plants to grow through the infection period without significant setbacks. The treated plants exhibited significantly larger leaf areas, which contributed to improved plant vigor and higher yield across all replications compared to untreated plots. The increased resistance to disease pressure enabled the crop to maximise its growth potential, supporting better canopy development and overall productivity.
These findings reinforce the efficacy of Switch Ag’s Promote & Plant Guard as integral solutions for disease management in cotton farming, offering growers a proactive approach to mitigating soil-borne diseases and optimising crop performance in challenging conditions.
